Once you have established the fundamentals of the game you will move on to the third and final stage, putting it all together to become a competent polo player. It is crucial that you develop an understanding of the rules by this stage as the majority of them are there for the safety of the players and their ponies. Polo is a very tactical game, based on team play and like most team sports a good player will 'read' the game and eventually be capable of anticipating their opponent's next move.
